The Waterfall Building

This architectural water feature, which inspired the building's name, greets visitors as they enter the north side street level entrance. Residents and guests are guided under a curved soffit and past a screen of water falling into a shallow reflective pool.

The curved soffit serves to open up the central courtyard and landscape to the street at grade level. This allows access to a functional public space - where the waterfall masks the urban sounds of the surrounding neighbourhood and offers visitors a respite from the commotion of local traffic. This duality embodies renowned architect Arthur Erickson's belief that design should represent both form and function.
